Hi Guys, ok so with the headache like you all. After sleeping on it and persuing the web hopelessly for a solution, I Finally Decided to fix my own problem. Lol so after educating myself on a few youtube vids :) haha, I figured out what Odin was(basically a phone firmware flashing tool) and found out that the Galaxy Tab comes with its end of the Odin piece already... That said cursored over to here [ROM] P7510UEKMM [27.10.2011][Android 3.2] - xda-developers for the Firmware... downloaded it. Downloaded Odin 3 v 1.7(VERY IMPORTANT YOU USE 1.7 or it WONT WORK). Flashed my device by putting the downloaded file in the PDA slot of "Downloaded Files" and unchecking ReFormat device(keep the other two checked). On the Galaxy Tablet hold down the Power and Volume up button to enter the Download mode. Use the option that is highlighted initially of the Android Guy with "Download" then go back to Odin and Press Start. Takes about 5 minutes... and Whoa - LA!! BLAMMM Andoid 3.2,.... proper Wifi with DHCP(after resetting your router preferences back to DHCP) and AUTOSCREEN ROTATION lol!!! :p So Try it out, worked for me.... lost all my apps, but nothing I cant get back from a restore file like Titanium etc. Try it out hope this helps! SO yea keeps me from running around to all my friends screaming YOU SAMSUNG! XD

P.S. If youre unfamiliar with Odin like i Was and want to see a video, please watch this guy who helped explain alot to me How to Root Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1! - YouTube but its really pretty easy once you know what youre doing...

I am about to try this.

Thanks so much for this short little tutorial and link! Worked like a charm!

Worked for me too! I did get the same warning error when the tab booted up saying the upgrade failed but so far I don't see anything wrong.

Weird my tab refuses to go to download mode, it just keeps showing the Gtab logo and thats it. I do have it plugged in and with usb debugging on, so idk whats the issue

The instructions in the original post state to use volume down. Use volume up. I had trouble at first for this reason. Also, push power first, and THEN the volume down. Look at the instructions given in the video. It will work, eventually.

Process worked for me (except one should use volume up, not down). I didn't lose any apps, settings or anything of the like - everything remained in perfect working order, like an in-place update. WiFi and rotation work beautiful, and tablet performance feels a lot snappier. Netflix is much happier.

Great instructions and video. One thing I have to ask though is what exactly are the pros and cons of rooting your Tab? I suppose the big pro is that you don't have to wait for Samsung to send an update out. I'm a pretty cautious person and though I think I'm tech savvy enough to do the root I always have to know what I might be getting myself into. Okay, I'm a coward -- so sue me ;)

Been trying this, and all it does is not boot up until I just hold the power button, or it loops on the Gtab logo screen

That "Download Mode" got me..

You hold down the "Volume Down" Button but only briefly tap the Power Button.

I was holding both down and getting nowhere.

Did the rest as shown in previous post.. works beautifully!

Much appreciated.

In Kies there is an 'Emergency Firmware' option, has anyone with the dodgy 3.2 update investigated this as a potential cure offered by Samsung?

You are a legend, worked for me and now it's running smooth as butter and I didn't loose any apps or settings!! :)

Screen rotation works, but there is a small lag before it happens!

And when it first booted up, it stayed on the flashing Samsung logo for ages before going to the lock screen, which had me worried, it took 2 - 3min to finish loading, so don't panic!!

I can't seem to get the download to work. in Odin ver 1.7 there is a com6 displayed. In the odin log it states check md5 ...do not unplug cable.

On the tablet it shows dowmloading. So far its been 8 minuters and nothing is happening.

Ideas?

PS autoreboot and f.rest are checked....pda is selected and the file name is in the window.

Whew...worked for me. It did seem to get stuck on the reboot...kept hanging at Samsung pulsing screen. Hold power to shut down and it would restart on its own. Did this about 3 times and it finally booted correctly. Thanks..I now have a WiFi only Tab that works with WiFi..what a concept!

Oh OH...spoke too soon. I received a notification that I connected to Skype....but other than that no network available. It shows me as 4 bars connected to my router, but no 'net.

Any idea what I might have missed?

the Odin3 screen shows it took 4:41 to update..green PASS showing. and "all threads completed" message on screen. So it would seem it installed correctly.

I had a simliar thing happen to me, however it appeared to not install the new OS. I tried deleting and readding the wifi set up on the tab, did not work. A factory reset fixed things.

Thanks so much Skyymiles... I really didn't know anything about rooting or Odin, but this was super easy once I tracked down odin. Note: You do not need a PIT file.

I downloaded Odin V1.7 at:

Sorry can't post a link... 1st post.

Skyymiles... Can I buy you a beer:)... You're the man! (or woman)

upon Further-Further review it appears it is the new Linksys router I also installed this weekend that is causing the problems. I took the tablet to work and it connected just fine.
Cisco/Linksys C3000 connects fine with multiple wifi notebooks, an access point, and wifi printer...they all access the 'net and local network just fine. But Android devices cannot reach the 'net.
They connect to the router, get DHCP supplied IP address, and show 4 bars in wifi. Evo 3D and Sammy tab 10.1. But neither can connect via browser or email to the wider net.

Soooo frustrating.
