Android Central Question

Hello dear users of android 10.

I have a Pixel 3 with A10 and one thing is driving me crazy.

Using the gesture navigation system, whenever I swipe up from the bottom of the screen from being in an app, to go to home screen, I have to wait until the transition animation plays out and until then I can not swipe on the home screen. Even though at a point it seems the app I was in minimised.

I tried the dev options for transitions and nothing changed. Also played with side swipe sensitivity - all didn't do a thing.

Please let me know if anyone shares the same frustration and what can be done about it.

Hi, it's happening from all apps. After seeing the home screen you have to wait a second or two before a swipe left or right is accepted. I turned on draw of touch and the screen registered it.

Have you tried turning animations off (in the Developer options screen in Settings)?

Also, you could try some basic troubleshooting like clearing cache for the stock launcher, switching gesture navigation off & back on and restart the phone.

I agree with Javier ..try this step

Hi, it's happening from all apps, apps pull up etc any point you want to the desktop from anywhere else - except the drop down menu from the top. If I swipe that up I can immediately swipe left or right on the desktop. Otherwise afteer seeing the home screen you have to wait a second or two before a swipe left or right is accepted. I turned on draw of touch and the screen registered it. Or as I do, you must swipe twice and the second swipe gets response.

I disabled all animations as I alluded to above. Sorry was not clear. It appears to be a literal pause to wait for translation animation to complete. Cleared cache and reverted navigation settings to stock and 3 buttons.

This is most likely a design issue and it's driving me crazy. The Pixel 3 has a lot of unfathomably ludicrous UI choices.

Have you already tried safe mode to rule out any conflict with a third party app? After Android 10 gestures are not playing very well with some third party apps.

Are you using full gestures ?

Did you just start having this issue when you were updated to Android 10 and did not have the issue on Android 9? If so, and none of the other suggestions here work you may need to just bite the bullet and do a factory reset on it.

I guess one other thing you could try is running another launcher like Nova and see if it still happens first.

Hi all. Yes I just installed Nova launcher and will leave it at that. Shame as the gesture navigation is pretty good, probably does not suit me as though. I prefer to clearly understand input and output behaviour, abhor having to guess what an input would do. I need to know and be able to rely on it being consistent. 😁
