Hi
I have a Pixel 2 and updated Android last night.
I now have an irritating Google Search Bar and Favorites Tray getting in the way.

How do I delete these please? I've tried the normal routes but nothing is working?

Thank you

I don't think you can get ride of the search bar on the home screen unless you use a 3rd party launcher

the first answer is right. You can't move it, period. See rant below. Lol 3rd party is the best way to go (Nova). Some feel you lose some of the smoothness. While I don't perceive this, it kind of makes sense. I will say that the loving wall paper works but not always exactly as intended and you cannot yet use the gestures on them. Why Pixel won't just add about 4 customizing options to make their UI follow the spirit of Android is beyond me but it is quite annoying.

/Rant to ignore/ Pixel is taking notes from Apple it seems. Test assured, they know what's best for your Homescreen from the color and exact placement (let alone existence) of their Google bar to the exact place (and assumed priority if existence) of their At A Glance widget to the insistence that all app icons outside of your doc need the added assistance of labels (just in case you weren't sure what the white bird with blue background icon was). /Rant done/

You can set Nova up to mimic the OEM pixel launcher perfectly if you want. The best part is total customization. So in the end you have the appearance of pixel using Nova. If you insist on wanting to stick completely stock then just get used to the search bar etc.

Welcome to Android Central! I'm a bit puzzled by this, because assuming you've been using the Pixel Launcher all this time, you still would've had a Favorites Tray on the homescreen on Pie and any previous version. I can't quite remember when the Google search bar moved from the top to the bottom of the screen, but regardless, the Favorites Tray has always been there. Or are you talking about when you swipe up to get to the Overview, which brings up a small window at the bottom with the Google search bar and some of your frequently used apps?

Hi yes, I think that's what I'm talking about. I don't remember having it before.
It's that I want to get rid of, plus the search bar at the bottom.

Yeah, I don't think you can get rid of that on the Pixel Launcher. It doesn't show up in Nova, so consider that, as previously suggested.
