Android 11 downloading on VZW S10+

I have noticed that my notifications no longer appear on my Always On Display when the phone is on DND. This is infuriating. I want to take a quick peek at my phone early in the morning or in a work meeting to see if a text has come in or anything. I do not want to have to tap the screen to wake it up to see this. Has anyone found a setting to change this??
