First thing I checked for is Assistant Quick Phrases. Not there. First disappointment.

There's no weather widgets on mine. Are they on yours?

Nope. The new styles are part of the Material You look. I have those on my Pixel 4a.

My wife downloaded A12 on her Pixel 4a. The first thing see noticed was the change in the pull down Quick Settings. Let's just say it isn't her favorite change. She said it looks more like it should be on AARP phones.

Instantly annoyed by the notifications that pop up on screen in the same size bubbles. It's way too big and intrusive for my tastes.

I have concluded that Google has no interest in fixing the Trusted Devices feature, not fixed in A12, and has never worked since its inception.

Overall Material You never was all that impressive to me. More like visual fluff. My wife and I are not pastel color fans. And like you not fans of the oversized notification bubbles either. Must be some very farsighted or nearly blind designers had a say in this.

I thought I read somewhere that the Pixel 6 will be the first to get those special rounded widgets, and eventually it will trickle down to older devices.

Apparently not everyone's phone has that. Still not on my Pixel 4a.
That is one of the main reasons I ordered the P6 Pro. My Pixel 4a is definitely lacking features that the higher numbered Pixels have. It's the ignored stepchild. No Quick Tap, Quick Phrases for example.
With the P6 lineup that shouldn't be an issue.
