Android 4.2 Sense 5 could be coming to Evo 4G LTE?

Well we can hope for another good upgrade for the Evo LTE. Still unsure about the locks screen for Sense 5. Will the ring and animated weather options be gone. Will miss it if so.

Eh, after the last Sense update I'm weary of anything after that. IMO they just added a bunch of crap we didn't want or need(like battery save setting stuck in your notification bar), took away the ability to remove the Beats icon, moved a bunch of apps to system apps so we can't disable them, took away skins, etc. The only plus I saw from the update was the ability to hide apps in the app drawer, and let us untick status bar notifications for some apps.

I would certainly NOT look forward to that non-hidable/disablable Blinkfeed crap or what they did to the apps drawer.

I'm still on ics and running flawlessly

You can hide blink feed and make the app drawer a more reasonable 4x5 grid very easily.
There is no animated weather but you do see a weather graphic in line with the new more minimal sense. Also I can assure you that even without a few of the features MeanBean offered I haven't switched back from the Sense 5 rom, it's incredibly fast and better designed in so many ways.

Seems like ~90% of the people that complain about BlinkFeed haven't even used it. I was kinda "meh" about it before I used it, now it's my main screen and I actually missed it when I briefly tried out a different AOSP ROM last weekend. I get the same impression from most users over in the One forum. Those that still don't like it after trying it just set a new homescreen and forget about it. No big deal.

As far as the apps drawer goes - it's easy to get used to, and it's a lot more flexible in "custom" mode.

OK, it's officially the end of May and we still have to word? Personally, I'd like to try out the new Sense 5. I have 4.2 on my Nexus 7 and like it. I don't know what HTC is going to do to it though so I'll hold judgement. Still, I love getting upgrades as a rule and am getting a little impatient. Anything for the fine folks at Sprint yet? They usually leak something prior to an upgrade.

The only thing I like about sense 5 is it looks more like Google and the appearence is a lot less fragmented from itself.

That's all I want.

I gotta say I'd like to try Sense 5 with Blinkfeed and Android 4.2/4.3. However, these articles both say that they will roll out "later". Given HTC's track record, I'd believe that the EVO will be the first or second of the listed devices to get the update and that it will happen in Q4 2013 or Q1 2014.. Having said that, I believe it will be kept under tight raps after the forum tirade that went on when the last upgrade was leaked.

Face it, it's already June and they haven't dropped 4.2 on the One. 4.3 wasn't released during Google I/O, and therefore doesn't look to come out until the fall. HTC has got to be looking at the timing of the 4.3 release when they make any decisions about upgrading the One (and the EVO) to 4.3 or 4.2. I mean why put the effort into a 4.2 upgrade when 4.3 is around the corner? If they're delaying development of an upgrade to the ONE, then they're pushing the EVO/DNA/etc upgrades out even further. I saw a reference to a possible EVO upgrade to 4.3 in Q4. Sorry, I'm not buyin' it. We'll be lucky to get the 4.2 upgrade with Sense 5 by Christmas.

Yeah, nobody who understands what they're talking about expects 4.3 on the Evo by Christmas. 4.2 by then is not unlikely though. Now, if 4.3 is released in October or November we're quite likely to see a port from xda within a month of the full release, but that's obviously not an official ota.

Running a Sense 5 Port with my Jewel right now.

You'll get used to it. Especially the horizontal movements of the phone on the app drawer and lock screen.

Pros - Design is beautiful, easy to use, eye candy, you barely notice blinkfeed unless you swipe to the left a lot (you can change your homescreen to the third screen, so it would be even harder to reach blinkfeed if you desire.) It's basically Sense 4+, but a lot better looking.

Cons - Well nothing really. I mean sometimes blinkfeed is really useful when you're bored or in the bathroom.

And I see us getting this update either next month or August. The Dev Teams have already been working hard on the OneX lineup to get Sense 5 on board.

How about the loss of a home screen and loss of memory to blinkfeed which can't be disabled. We already don't have enough memory... It is just plain stupid that HTC doesn't have an "off" option for blinkfeed.

And not a con of 5 vs 4, but I bet anything they STILL have not fixed the damn lock screen, home screen, settings screens, apps screens, phone apps screens, and contacts screens so they can be used in LANDSCAPE. They have the ability in car mode, so why not ALWAYS? How many years do we have to wait for that????!!! UG!!!

Loss of more than 1 home screen. In sense 5 you only get 5 screens with one being dedicated to blink. On my one i use adw.ex so its not an issue but for those that stick with stock it could be

I agree that not having an option to turn off Blinkfeed is a bit ridiculous but I can assure you, the processing it uses up is absolutely irrelevant, it affects nothing, and Sense 5 is waaaay snappier and more efficient than 4+.

As for the landscape stuff, it may be a nice feature for some users but that isn't a question of fixing it, that's an additional feature that they could add in, but nothing is broken.
