I've a 1st Gen. LTE, purchased from Amazon. It's still saying "up to date." I'm good with that. This phone has been working so well, I don't know as I want any updates. My wife has a 1st Gen MotoG bought from playstore.
It is downloading and installing 5.0.1 OTA as I type.

I did not play much with it. In general the Moto G seemed the same as Kitkat as far as response goes, I didn't notice any huge lags. But then again I am used to Android L in my N4.That's good news! Please, report back how her phone works with 5.0.1.
I have the Moto G 2013. I just received the 4.4.4. Update. Can you tell me, what is the 5.0/L?

Phone updates are sent in waves. There's no Nexus between people you know, or people in your region, who have received the device except you. It's a slow rollout, and often times can take a month or two. I'd suggest being patient and checking for updates every couple of days.My moto G is from 2013 and colour edition and I can see everybody around me getting it and I don't. : / Do you have some explanation to give?
