Android 5.0 update forAT&T Galaxy Alpha (G850A) is out

One thing I DID do was to go through virtually every app, looking for notification settings. I turned off everything I didn't absolutely want (e.g., I kept things like email and FB notifications, but I don't need Slacker telling me about the latest album releases).

That's the update that's been haunting me. Got it two weeks ago.

9:15pm and I'm still at 65% after another day of normal use (including a bit of time on a wireless charger mid-afternoon). No heat issues.
I don't know what I did, but I can live with this (though battery life is still down somewhat from before the update). Maybe it was all those notification settings.

Hi im in the U.K and have an unlocked galaxy alpha previously on at&t (G850A) and every time I try updating it to 5.0 lollipop it doesn't work. It uses an at&t server to update so I was wondering if I needed to be in America as it is from America or just use an at&t sim card. Can someone help me out. Thanks.

You need both (AT&T sim card and be in US). However, there is now a leaked firmware file for G850A out there. If you can find it, you will be able to flash it using ODIN (not the easiest tool to use and will require factory reset).

Frnds plz suggest me whether I should update my Alpha sm-g850a from android 4.4.4 to lollipop ?
I have only issue of mobile hotspot and tethering so far..
Plz help ?

Update to lollipop won't solve your tethering problem. It's an AT&T ROM and will always contain the same limitation on the tethering.

There is no known root for 850A. If I read correctly, some report that 5.0.2 update resolved tethering issue for non-AT&T customers.

From what I read, tethering now works on non-AT&T carrier in this update. However, I have seen less battery life, huge memory leak (almost need daily reboot) and much worse cell signal (as in lost cell connection all the time for me) in 5.0. It's up to you to pick the poison.
