Android 5.0?

Depends on what carrier you have. I am hoping for September with Sprint, but then again I might be on another phone by then

I am on Sprint as well... I see no need to get the GS IV or any other device. If we get these steady updates, then why get another phone?! This phone is already a computer that can fit in my pocket!

EDIT: Plus the fact that I am not eligible for an update until 2014 -__-

But... But... It's new and has a different roman numeral!

If my wife didn't have one coming I would stick with this one two for the two years. But why waste an upgrade on her since she doesn't care....

Amen to that. My mom is the "account holder" so she gets her upgrade every year and just got the iPhone 5... soooooo I may just "steal" her upgrade and get that GS IV ;) we'll see though.

The S3 on Sprint, in my opinion, will not see 5.0....let alone 4.2. I think 4.1.2 will be the last "official" update from Sprint.

Lol! I think I saw you posting the same stuff on the Epic 4G forums about whether we would get Froyo, then Froyo updates 1 and 2, then Gingerbread, then GB update 1...no, I don't agree. I'm sure we will get 4.2 and most likely will get one to two iterations of 5.0 or Keylime Pie (whate ever # it does get). I do imagine that after one to two iterations of Keylime Pie, that will be it for SG3.

You can get any update really if you know how to root and rom

If you want to lose all the Touchwiz features. You can put Cm on and one version of it is 4.2.1

With lockscreen widgets, multi-view and all that?

Page buddy, paper artist and the new Gallery are all TouchWiz stuff though, right?

Multi view is Touchwiz. You would get vanilla android, very close to the nexus4 but with a few tweaks

So then what is different ?

There are some but don't know them off the top of my head. Google 4.2 enhancements and you should find the list.

In my opinion, there is nothing that would make me downgrade to cm.

Yeah, I blew that prediction for the S2 didn't I? :)

Gotcha. Well thanks.

I have been running 4.2.1 on my S3 for a while. Rooting your device and putting any ROM that you want to use is the way to go. It took me a while to get sick of touchwiz but I've tried almost every ROM available for the S3.

Some of the 4.2.1 features are multi user, quick pulldown settings, photosphere and new camera, new keyboard, new gapps with new clock and timer etc. That's all I can think of off the top of my head but there is more. Also bug fixes and whatnot. 4.2.2 will fix a2dp and some other issues.
