Android 6.0 Marshmallow for the Moto X Pure Edition (24.11.18)

What are some of the issues people are experiencing since updating to Marshmallow? Volume fades in and out on full volume youtube video. Also looks like there is a pixel issue running down the screen. You can see it more while looking at a text message. Anyone else seeing these issues?
The EQ settings are gone (impacts sound quality in bad way).

The ability to swipe up the circle to activate an app is gone.

EQ settings is probably a firmware break, but the swipe loss is probably MM.

Everything works flawlessly for me. Can't wait to get some battery stats on DOZE.
Doze only helps when the device is still and not being used. Both mutually inclusive for Doze to doze. Seems it will be more an improvement for tablets since left alone more than a phone.

AT&T here, powered down, pulled the sim, powered back up on WIFI only - no update. Tried repeatedly - no update.

I left the Sim out of the phone overnight, nothing in the morning when I woke, but I did another reboot of the phone and now it is downloading the update, hopefully it installs OK.

Re: Android 6.0 Marshmallow for the Moto X Pure Edition

Not sure if this helps but when you open Play Music and go into settings there is an "Equalizer" wherein you can adjust EQ settings for the phone speakers as well as wired headphones. I just tried it and it works just fine!

I think the app has to have a link to the EQ. I know spotify has one not sure about Slacker.

AT&T user here... just got the OTA update pushed. Not near WiFi or a charger right now so I havent downloaded yet

Another thing to note with doze: Active Display will not interrupt doze. The only time that Doze fully cuts out is when the phone is moved in any way. Waving your hand over the display will not turn off doze, nor will doze shut off when a notification comes in and the display kicks in.

I've also seen some times when my phone is sitting on the desk and the notification comes in I can press on the icon to get the preview and Doze still keeps going unless I unlock the phone or move it enough.

How do you know Doze is still active? I had a Nexus 5 2013 with 6.0 and I have a Nexus 9 and I can't tell when Doze is active.

Yes, I'm curious too. How does one know when Doze is active? It's like Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle...once you check to see if Doze is engaged, you've modified the subject.

Re: Android 6.0 Marshmallow for the Moto X Pure Edition

Looks like that won't be an issue for this phone, I have the moto x pure (2015) on AT&T and just got a notification that 6.0 is available for my phone.

My AT&T just got the notification, so it's official, Moto X Pure got MM on AT&T before the Nexus 6. That's crazy.

Referring to the Motorola Connect Chrome Extension - that was never available for the Moto X Pure Edition.
Ah. Correct. They killed that prior to release of the XPE (but forgot to remove it from their marketing material LOL), so I tried Push Bullet thanks to a tip from another forum discussion about it.

I might have to ask Santa to get me a subscription to their paid version. It really is a great app. Just priced too steep for my comfort.

Can anyone, or better yet, a few of you, confirm that the mobile hotspot still works for verizon with grandfathered unlimited data plans after the marshmallow update?

So far I am not impressed with MM and notice no improvements, but do notice:

1. Connecting to a PC is more of a pain now
2. The surprisingly good sound and EQ settings are gone
3. Doze is still inferior to the iOS version (iOS device does not have to be still to work) for sleep mode. The power saving mode in Lollipop already basically covered this function when not plugged in.

Each update appears to take away more than add: L took 15% to 20% of storage space for ART and MM has taken stuff too. I am not an Android fanboy (or anything else, really), so not blinded by Android's aura of light ;) Hopefully Star Wars will not fall to the same hype ;)

I am looking forward to all the sugar pill induced "battery life is 50% to 100% better" posts though! :)

Not sure if this helps but for #3 when you open Play Music and go into settings there is an "Equalizer" wherein you can adjust EQ settings for the phone speakers as well as wired headphones. I just tried it and it works just fine!

The global settings were key. I do not use Play Music since find it intrusive and inferior to PowerAmp. Plus, I only use Amazon for MP3 downloads since are not device restricted like iTunes or Play. No global settings means any app you use must have EQ settings or the speakers and headphone out sounds flat. That is my experience so far.

PowerAmp has both audio gain and EQ settings. It is all the other apps I use that are out of luck due to Moto's WTH omission here.

On Lollipop, Play Music just opened the global equalizer when you chose that option, what's it opening in Marshmallow?

I got the update. I don't think it had anything to do with carriers. I suspect it was regional. I have AT&T, and the OTA showed up with my SIM in my device. Optimizing apps now.

I'm on Straight talk using AT&T sim. I got the update notification today. After reading the features of the update, I think I'll pass for now. I just got my phone set up and need nothing further at this time but a custom rom..hehe

Looks the same when you open it from play music.

So you open from inside play music, but maybe it will still change global equalizer settings?

It was a carrier thing though. David Schuster updated his post to add:

UPDATE: I am happy to report that we are continuing the full deployment of Android Marshmallow 6.0 upgrade on 2015 Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen) on AT&T and for 2015 Moto X Style for Latin American retail.

Haven't had a chance to test it but, yeah, that's what it looks like.
