Android 8.0.0 Emoji Shortcut

So I just updated my S8 (normal size) to the new Oreo software. So far the advanced options and customizations have been pretty cool. The only downside I've found... it takes a few steps to access the emoji panel now.

Before, the emoji panel had a shortcut in the bottom left. It was quick, easy, and convenient. However after the update, that button is a comma. There is no option to remap it back to an emoji button. The new way to access the emoji panel is by tapping a button on the top left of the keyboard, which opens another horizontal menu, by which you can then access an emoji. This extra step is a hassle to me, as I love using emojis frequently throughout a conversation.

I've looked online at other forums but I can't find a solution to this... So I'll as here directly: Is there any way to get the emoji shortcut back to where it was in the previous software version? At the very least, is there a way to make it a "one click wonder" and get me there more efficiently?

Thanks in advance!

There's no "solution" because there's no "problem" - they rewrote the keyboard. (If you're a developer, you can write one that works like the old one - that would be the only "solution".) There are other keyboards - find one that you like better.

Have your keyboard open, hit the settings button, go to default keyboard and turn off tool bar. I just figured it out while trying to find an answer.

If this is the GBoard, I hate that name, and not the Samsung keyboard then you can hold down the comma and that opens a flyout with the emoji button on it.

The solution is to quit rewriting the keyboard so that it takes away things we're used to with no apparent (if any) way to turn them back on and shoves things down our throats with no apparent (if any) way to turn them off. This is what options and settings and preferences are for.

What became of making " i " turn into "I" without using shift key or suggestions bar? Why insert "s" as s word (like just happened) when the word i want is CLEARLY "a"? When did "i" and "s" become words? Who's running this carnival?

But bury the "forward slash" (/)??? Ever heard of typing a URL?

And what self-righteous answers/solutions from Ambassador Moderator Rukbat: "Write your own keyboard" as if 0.1% of the population possibly could and 0.1% of that population would. "Find a keyboard you like better." There isn't one, which is why we're upset. And the "That's just how it works now" attitude begs the question. (Oh, it does work, but the rules just keep changing, so we lose continuity, so we leave the keyboard thinking it works lousy.)

More offensive than any of that, though, are the insipid "word bubbles" that automatically turn words into "buttons"? Like typing "never" ALWAYS turns into an emoticon button that says "NEVER" and i NEVER want that.

How do i turn off altogether emojis and the "never" behavior i just described when I'm doing serious work (and MAYBE turn them back on when I'm feeling playful)? The more they pop up, the more pissed off i get, the less playful i feel, the less i like Google and Android.

Maybe the messaging app developers are who to tell about the emoji/emoticon debacle, though.

Maybe i should just write my own OS.
