Hi Jamie and welcome. If you're talking about this Oreo Beta, it's a closed program. Don't think it's possible to join at this late date (getting close to official release)
If you're talking about the camera software, there is a link for the apk download in the news article https://m.androidcentral.com/pixel-2-portrait-mode-can-now-be-used-certain-non-google-phones
To check for updates in general (I'm assuming you have the S8 or S8+) go to settings>software update and tap download updates manually. It will tell you whether you are on the latest OS version

I installed that camera mod and when I open it I just get a black screen and the app freezes, any ideas?

EDIT: Okay so just tried different versions and 7.2 is the only version that will work for me

I just installed b5. Nothing to report so far. Did my usual install, then wipe the cache partition. We'll see what happens. Still on the December patch.

you have too wait for android 8.1 beta or the next one has has the slots are closed for any more beta tester at this time all so its not open for verizon and AT&T so you have that ver of the samsung S8 you wont be able too do the beta its only for sprint and T-mobile and unlocked models



all so you be able too update it when its ready

That surprising part that b5 didn't include security update. Or maybe is very different for Oreo.

There is a nice list of changes on the Community though.

I haven't had time wade through it yet. Maybe later today. I too was a bit surprised the lack of the most recent patch. I just sideloaded it on to my Nexus 5X. Google does make that stuff easy if you're on a Google device.

I would love to see that capability on other Android devices. Maybe Treble will help in that department.

I was in no hurry to update to B5 because B4 has been actually fine for me. No reboots, no freezing, no lag.

But now this article shows Dolby and I love Dolby!

I was just wading through this thread and I opened my Samsung Plus app and there was notice to enroll in the beta program. I read somewhere that they were not allowing people to do that after the 5th. anyway, what's next? Will I get an OTA update?

You may have to reboot and check for it manually. At least I remember reading that in the beginning. I never had any issues.

Me too. I had left the beta after the 3rd release. Hopefully its at least close to being stable.

Does anyone have a list of known not working apps? Specifically WhatsApp, Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram etc. and also mobile banking apps and games and stuff.

Swiftkey isn't happy

It'll work at a basic level; but you can't customise otherwise it crashed

I've reported it so hopefully it'll be updated soon enough

Same here. Can only use the default light or dark keyboards. Worked OK in 4. Will also report/send log file.
