Normally I'm not one to moan about inevitable slow Samsung updates, but this is beyond the pale.
Maybe Samsung will prove the xda article wrong... Not holding my breath though.

The thing that's pissing me off is that while they fiddle and diddle we aren't getting any security patches. Still on December...

We're glutton for punishment. I'm the same way. If beta 7 wasn't so great, (for me) I would've been climbing the walls waiting for Oreo.

I agree. Wouldn't they already know whether it works on each carrier or not? It sounds like they have to test it twice on each carrier.

The carriers themselves aren't exactly known for humping updates through their systems either.

Yeah the beta was running great on my S8 too. I must confess though that I really like my S8+. Oreo will arrive eventually but waiting is starting to get old.

No regrets with my S8 Plus on 7.0 either. Really enjoy the phone. The update situation for the unlocked phones has become ridiculously annoying though. Oh well, having run the beta, I know that there's nothing earth shattering in Oreo. You're right though... The wait is getting old and tiresome. Seriously. 2-3 weeks?

AT&T just released Oreo for its Note 8 devices this morning.

And here I'm on an unlocked variant still running a 3 month old security patch :-/

Hopefully they'll role out the update for the S8 series this week.

I'm in your same sad boat. But they said 2-3 weeks....so gonna be awhile yet. Trying to think of the advantages of buying unlocked direct from Samsung...... [crickets]

At this time I'm actually thinking about flashing to my carrier variant, at least I'll get Oreo and all the VoLTE stuff without jumping through hoops.

You will get volte and WiFi calling but not sure your will get oreo. I think the updates go by imei.....

I think @pankaj981 means the Oreo carrier variant. It should be available because all the carriers have their released all their versions.
