Android Central Question

i haven't received oreo 8.0 as well as i am still on Aug security patch on my nexus 6p. when am i going to get the further updates.

I bought this device on google play store and when i contacted customer care they asked to wait until i gets pushed automatically but all the internet sites are reporting that it has been rolled out starting sep 2nd week.

Pls advice

Welcome to Android Central! Moved to the Nexus 6P forum. Is it on a Nougat Developer Preview version, or the stable Nougat?

Nexus 6P running Oreo. Boot time cut in half, everything seems smoother, no battery issue. In fact would like to see bench test results compared to a 6P running Nugget.

I'm in the same boat here, with a stable Nougat 7.1.2 (I've never done anything with my phone, just letting it update, etc. on its own) and August security patch. I'm on T-Mobile and still no sign of Oreo coming through...

I am in the same boat. Also on Nougat 7.1.2. I have never enrolled in beta programs or anything. I would just let the phone receive the updates OTA. I too am also on August security patch. I use the T-mobile network and do not have OREO.

On another thread someone on Fi said once they put their phone on the Sprint network they got the Oreo update. I'm wondering if it has something to do with T-mobile?

I tried to side load the update, but my phone is not recognized by any of my USB ports when I reboot.

When you reboot
- into Recovery mode?
- into the Bootloader?

Is your phone recognized when the OS is running?

I downloaded the OTA package for the Nexus 6p from Google this morning and updated to Oreo 8.0. I'm happy to report that it was a painless update and I haven't had the phone crash at 30% like I did with 7.1.2.

If you're on Project Fi, just do it yourself and move on.

I'm on Project Fi and getting the phone crash at 30%. Guess I will have to manually update, especially if it fixes the crashing. Such a PITA.

This morning I got a surprise! 8.0 with October security update. I went from 7.1.2 with Aug security update to 8.0 with October update. Not sure why this took so long but it finally came through OTA. Anyone else on T-mobile that had not received 8.0 get it recently OTA? I'm wondering if this was a T-mobile issue?

I had the exact same situation, with an OTA update this morning.

I'm on Project Fi which uses T-Mobile and Sprint. I got an update pushed to me last night while I was out, then tried to install it when I got home and during the download process it just disappeared. I was out again earlier and got the update again, got home, and now it's disappeared. I'm on Sprint while at home. Maybe that's the issue???

ETA: I force switched to T-Mobile and the update popped up. I'm downloading it now. Hope I'm successful this time.

Updated to 8.0 last night and so far battery is draining much quicker than before. Just 5 minutes of screen time browsing chrome or IG and battery drops to 94%. I read about the dev previews having battery issues but wasn't expecting it from the official release. I hope 8.1 fixes this.

I am on FI and got it this morning. Everything seems to be working except I have no notification dots (despite them being turned on in "Apps & notifications").

Any of you seeing the same behavior?

On Project Fi and received the update this morning. I also don't see any notifications dots and it is turned on in the settings.

Do you mean the dots on the wake screen? I only see them when I have more than 5 app notifications. When I have less, then no dots.

Also, I am still getting the shut down when my battery hits 15%.

I finally ended up doing the update push through ADB (using the OTA file downloaded from Google).

The dots in question I think are on the app icons on the home screen. I have the option turned on and no dots on mine either. I also see those dots when I have more notifications than 5 on the lock screen (or than fit in the bar when the phone is unlocked).
