Correct me if I'm wrong but when Google said the 6P will be at the end of life by Sept 2017 does that mean it will get one last Android update then? Aka Android 8.0

That is too fair from now to know for sure... and that really would depend on when Android 8.0 was released... if it is in fact 8.0... it could be 7.x.

Thanks for the reply. The Nexus 6 had a end of life for October of this year and it got Nougat so I'm assuming the 6P will get Android 8.0 or 7.X.X. I'm curious to see what other people's thoughts are on this. You are right that we are far off from that. A small part of me doesn't think the 6P will get Android 8.0 if Google wants to move forward with the way how Android is updated like it is on the Pixel and XL. Only time will tell of course ;)

I believe the consensus is that it will get the major OS release next year (7.x, 8.0, whichever) and then get monthly security updates at least through Oct./Nov. next year.

fatboy is right, technically whether Google is obliged to update it depends on when it's released: they've committed to OS updates for two years so assuming it releases around the end of the year next year that will be right on the line. They could decide to update it in any case, but there are no guarantees.

It will be at least two years for major OS updates. It could be more, as long as the hardware supports it, like the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9. Every one seems to forget that part.
