Android 8.1 Dev Preview Available

I was having the same problem that you guys were having and found this method that works.

1.) Uneroll in Android Beta Program
2.) Re-enroll in Android Program
3.) Wait for OTA 8.1.0 to pop up. (Or if you are like me just go to settings, click on update) DO NOT press restart and update once it is done downloading.
4.) Do a full factory reset (The OTA 8.1.0 will install while your phone is resetting)
5.) Done.

Thanks, I will have to decide if that's worth the trouble or not. Thank Google for the dual boot partitions on the pixel as it reverted to the working boot flawlessly after encountering the boot loop

I was getting ready to do the factory reset and noticed in the Google Groups forum they sent an update. No more issues and wow 8.1 runs nice on the pixel!!!

I was also able to get 8.1 loaded up on my pixel and I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. Feels super snappy even compared to 8.0 and the new font is nice. And finally the quick settings looks like 7.x again I hated the white. Glad to continually have little tidbits to breathe life into the phone.

a couple strange things are happening:

1) When I try to access Smart Lock, there is nothing there. it is litterally a blank screen.

2) When accessing Google On Tap (swipe right from home screen) or search, it sometimes reloads rather than show results.

Other than that, the Beta works pretty well.

Try a factory reset.

Did the reset. Smart Lock works again. On Tap still occasionally reloads when trying to browse.

Not sure if it's related to the beta or not but sometimes when I go home, the launcher fades and slides up from the bottom at the same time, much like any other app when opening it, however usual behavior for returning to the launcher is the open app slides down and out of the way.

Just an odd quirk I noticed

I enrolled 2 weeks ago a still no update. I've tried to unenroll and enrolling again and nothing is working. any ideas?

Even stranger: now the issue seems to have cleared up. Wonder if there was a Play Services update or some other background update?

Never mind, I found it. Looks like its scheduled for any day now.

Sounds like a newer version is on the way. No ota for me yet, but the 1 build has been perfectly stable. We should be close to final release

Just got it. Seems good so far. Notice that Smartlock doesn't always show up. When it doesn't, a reboot fixes it every time. Strange.

I had to clear the cache on the Bluetooth app to get it to work with my Ford Sync again. Other than that, no issues with ADP2 so far.

Mine is just working perfectly. After I turn off and turn on my BT about 3-4 times, my Ford Sync would get deleted/unpaired on my phone. It doesn't do it anymore. Thanks, Google!

I still haven't received the ota and my phone says up to date upon checking :/
Apparently the recent news about the check for updates button actually working are false

The first update made my phone laggy and drained my battery like crazy. I got the new OTA about 3 days ago and the battery life is significantly better.

First found issue. When playing podcasts from the Google Assistant, the FF/RW/PLay/Pause controls on the vehicle do not work. They did not work on 8.0. But were working on ADP1. So I'm back to square one.

Also the Google app continues to crash. I am going to uninstall updates, and clear cache. Then re-update, see if that fixes it.

My beta Google Play Services says it needs updating. But when I try to update, it crashes the Play Store.
