Android 8.1 Head Unit overclock

Hi.

I have rooted my head unit and am trying to overclock it slightly. Ive tried most apps but they don't have an option to increase the speed beyond the manafacturers spec (1.3GHZ)

I'd like to use SETcpu but it crashes everytime I try to use it so have tried the others.

Specs -

Andoid 8.1 ROOTED
MT6580 CPU
2GB RAM upgraded to 4GB thru SWAPPER app

Android really isn't an overclocking os.
The system generally runs a peak performance for the app.

What would be the point of overclocking a head unit?

I assume this is for a car head unit?

What use case does it benefit? Seems to me that heat would be a problem for a device that's already in an environment that is way hotter than usual for those chips.

I'm trying to find updates for my head unit, either firmware or Android (currently Android 8) I also cannot reset to factory settings because it needs a code which I don't have. Its slow, freezes everytime I use it and I'm ready to smash it up. I will attach the spec as shown using Aida64 and...

I see you're now on Android 8.1 instead of 8.0, so I guess you were able to make some progress. Whatever the case, I'm with @joeldf on this one. Not only are Android head units a bad idea to begin with, but why try to overclock it? I can't think of a reason, and I don't think I've heard of anyone overclock any android device. Even if you could, this is a unit with low quality parts. I would expect the silicone lottery odds to be against you.

I overclocked my Nexus 4 way back when... But I agree with you completely. W

If you want this headunit to run quicker just go into developer settings and turn animation down to zero and use a different launcher such as Nova. Like I mentioned in your other thread Chinese unit's are not that Great .
