Android 9 Pie... Do you like it?

Figured I'd might as well update this in case anyone else finds the thread.

A factory reset didn't work. I ended up finding a guy in town who works on phones. I had him replace the battery (50 bucks plus 10 for the battery) and now it's back to being my good old phone again. Easily a full day on a charge, even with heavy use. I think I bought another 2 years out of this phone.

I hate it. Everytime my phone restarts, all Bluetooth pairings are deleted. I have to pair with the car, watch, home speakers, etc. A pain in the ***.

Long press the Bluetooth button in quick settings and it will take you directly there. I believe all the buttons in quick settings are tap for on/off and long press for other options/settings now.
Thanks! I didn't know that either.

Yes. I do like it. Especially the clean Android One experience. I wish that the dark theme was applied universally to all the Google apps and services.

Hopefully GMAIL will get better integration with other email services, apps and messaging platforms (like the BlackBerry Hub). But these are mostly pet peeves, not serious deficiencies. Maybe they can buy BlackBerry Hub?!

Another wish would be that Google went ahead and outright bought the BlackBerry Keyboard and integrated its interface and swipe function into its GBoard.

Trying out the "Gestures" has been fun. So all in all a good, solid experience. Which again, I'll say it's best seen when using as pure of an Android version as possible.

PS Actually, come to think about it, Google should buy all or of BlackBerry/BlackBerry Mobile and murder everybody at TCL as well as get rid or John Chen...LOL...🤣✌️

I wish I hadn't updated my phone. The new look is awful to me. I was able to change the appearance of the home screen and lock screen but that's it. Since I can't go back to the phones default OS I may have to exchange my phone (if its still within the 9p days with Walmart) or buy a replacement which is like $80. I'm sure Pie is a good thing but the appearance is just terrible, even in max power saving mode the 8 apps on screen looks bloated and I dont like the way they look.

Is there some where I could give feedback on Pie? Maybe they'll give users more options but I'm still going to Walmart so I can hopefully get what I paid for if not, guess I'll have 2 phones then...

Unless I can find someone who can restore the original version on this phone

I like it, so far my only petty issue is the volume control. Currently the quick volume control is defaulted for to adjust media. I would prefer to have it set to adjust ring volume.

It's a hassle to go all the way into sound settings to adjust phone volume. I adjust my phone ringer more than I do media because of the changing environments I'm in. Does anyone know of a way to change this?

Amazing how many people want new tech that keeps old ways.

Consumers: “We want phones with 2/3 year regular OS updates! Why doesn’t my phone have this software feature? We want new software tricks like dark mode, AI to help efficiency and a more refined aesthetic and experience!”

Google/Samsung/Huawei etc: *Obliges*

Consumers: “What! Why does my phone now have this? I much prefer the old software! Fix these issues! I don’t like these new features, they’re garbage!”

Am I the only one who sees this cycle repeating itself every year? 90% of new features released on software updates are optional and can be manually enabled/disabled. Stop whining about something that you can easily disable.

If you really hate your device’s software (e.g OneUI, EMUI etc) my advice would either to be go through the device settings to fix it, and if that fails install a launcher where you can customise everything to your satisfaction.
