Android - Android 4.1, Jelly Bean

I will definitely go the unlocked route and buy my next Nexus from Google. AT@T looks good though I don't think T-Mobile is in my area. Any ideas on GSM providers?

I also have bad T-Mobile coverage in my area. Recently I've been looking at Straight Talk. They have a $45 per month unlimited everything plan. They are GSM and support AT&T's bands.

Rooting may void your warranty but Sprint still has a policy stating they are to look at them and attempt to repair them. If anyone at Sprint tries to tell you otherwise tell them to refer to their methods and procedures on handling rooted devices.

I'm tempted to buy my next Nexus direct from Google and use it on T-Mobile Monthly 4G Unlimited Everything No Contract $60/Month Plan.

Man, you have no idea how close I am to doing this very same thing. My buddy got 19Mbps down inside my living room on T-Mobile 4G. While my Nexus got 12.8kB/s on Sprint 3G....I couldn't help but have a sad laugh.

I'm gonna be so upset if that happens. Updates for the Nexus should be right in line with the GSM Nexus, as should the Verizon version. All G'nexs should be updated at the same time. It defeats the entire Nexus experience to have to wait longer for updates then the other Nexus devices. Google provided updates was half the reason I bought this phone, that and the stock experience. Nothing about this has felt like I have a Nexus except the stock os.

Unfortunately though we picked a version of Nexus just like our Verizon friends that doesn't necessarily live by the Google standard. Google upholds their end of the bargain by providing the AOSP source update to the GSM model then from there since Verizon/Sprint have locked down proprietary files its in their hands to take it from there for official release to us. Throw in a month, two or three maybe more of internal testing on top of everything and bingo... There is your delay in our updates :)

Sum it up in a nutshell.. Welcome to carrier controlled updates from Sprint/Verizon on the Nexus line.

But to answer the OP, many sources are saying we will have JB from Sprint tomorrow, 9/6. Ahead of what I figured on when I got the Gnex.
