I have a rooted Motorola XT-535, with Android 2.3.7 (Gingerbread), some apps linked to SD Card 2nd partition by Link2SD Plus. This question involves Opera Mini, Line, and Whatsapp. Details below:
My phone has very little internal memory space, so I installed Link2SD and linked some apps to the 2nd partition of the SD card. It bought me some breathing space but not by much; the phone suffers from lag most of the time. Regardless of the stuttering and lagging it never presents any serious problem to complain about until tonight:
[Starting condition, battery below 15%, phone was used all day long]
I was checking Line messenger and it lags as usual, but i noticed the things that i was supposed to have read hours ago were marked as unread, and the conversation I've had only minutes ago disappeared. It was as if the app was restored or undone to its state some hours ago. I scrolled down and discovered that all my older chats turned to empty rooms. I went to setting, applications, and force stopped Line.
When I try to open Line again, it shows the Line loading screen with the logo, then only shortly afterward it shows "An error has occured, please try again." I opened Opera Mini to search for answers but it shows the empty Opera logo which shows when you installed it. The O gauge didn't even fill, it suddenly closes and i'm back to home screen.
I rebooted the phone.
[1st reboot]
After reboot, I opened Opera Mini and it works as usual; then I checked Line. It lags, and the symptoms returned; the chats was backward on time, when I opened the friends tab all my friends are gone and when i return to the message tab all my chats are gone.
This time, the screen suddenly turns to 'Whatsapp needs to Uninstall" with the Uninstall button below the text.
I reopened opera mini and I was faced with the empty O gauge again.
I rebooted the phone.
[2nd reboot]
I opened line: it was fine, i can see my recent conversations. Whatsapp seemed to retained all my chats as well. Then i opened Opera Mini and it swiftly reinstalled itself (the O gauge suddenly fills, contrary to the, like, 15-30 seconds of installation I experienced), and all my settings was gone. I reopened whatsapp and line but saw everything was still ok.
I opened Application on Setting, and saw that the "Data" section of Opera Mini wasn't 0, it was some 12 MB just like before the problem.
So what is the problem? Memory shortage? I have 446 MB free of 2.5 GB SD card (I allocated the rest of the 4GB for the 2nd partition) and 111 MB free of some 390 MB of internal memory.
Loose battery? Loose SD Card? Virus or malware?
I originally thought it only happened to apps I linked to 2nd partition, but Opera is inside internal memory. Poweramp seems to be working fine as well even though it wasn't linked. I opened the casing, remounted the battery and the SD card just in case it was loose, but haven't rebooted the phone yet; charging it right now.
Should anyone be able to enlighten me on the possible causes and remedies, I would be very grateful.
