Samsung S3 SGH-T999[v] (T-Mobile duplicate) Canada Mobilicity
Rooted using Samsungs Toolkit using Chainfires Method and TWRP custom recovery.
Running stock 4.1.1 JB

Problem is that after reboot SOMETIME certian apps get reset back to default setting. This occurs usually during prolonged times of using the phone without a reboot.

Apps being affected...
Dolphin Browser
Set CPU
Juice Defender
Moon Reader Pro

I have tried to reinstall apps and that does not seem to fix the problem right now I can reboot constantly without setting being affected but if i wait like 2days+ and reboot all my setting get erased for these apps.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It happened again however this time dolphin browser was not affected.Has anyone else had this problem or could anyone provide a solution.

Are you a power user.....sometimes the phone getting hot (48?c/114?f) for prolonged periods can cause artifacts and stability issues on all versions of gs3

My device does not go above 37 dehrees Celsius during use. If I restart even now the settings go back to default each time. I think I should do a full reset maybe something is corrupt.

To reset the phone go to Settings>Back up and reset, then choose Factory data reset.

This will not unroot the phone, it will simply reload the existing rooted ROM and wipe cache and data. I've seen instructions for unrooting the Sprint and AT&T versions of the phone, but not the T-Mobile version. The process for unrooting the Sprint version should work, but you'll need to find a stock, unrooted factory ROM file to apply. Do not attempt to apply the Sprint ROM to a T-Mobile phone.

My phone does this also with bedside every time I restart my phone I have to set it to launch by default when the phone is docked

Mine is resetting my default keyboard and my email sync settings. This happens every time I turn my phone off. I am running stock and am up to date on apps and software.

I use swiftkey and the same thing was happening. Then I used astro to back up my apps then deleted the keyboard and reinstalled it and it don't reset anymore. I read that the play store install it in the wrong spot that's why this happens.

I just figured it out if you have a app that is doing this then back up the app using something like astro file manager. Then delete the app and reinstall it from the back up. For some reason the play store does not install it right and when you rest your phone you lost your default settings.

THANK YOU! This has been driving me nuts for months. I wish they'd fix it!

For me, I found that I could use Titanium by just making a backup, uninstalling, reinstalling (including data). So there's no loss, except for a couple minutes time. Of course, Titanium requires root, but that was easy enough. This fixed the "Lost Defaults On Reboot" issue for me on the following apps:
  1. Business Calendar
  2. Kaiten Mail
  3. ADW Launcher
  4. ezPDF Reader
  5. PowerAmp Music Player
  6. Gentle Alarm

Still extremely annoyed that this is STILL broken after all this time. THANKS GOOGLE! No wonder so many people stay with Crapple. Android may be far more powerful, but with screw-ups like this, I can certainly understand why those who aren't willing to dig for hours for fixes stick with the losers.

All good now though, thanks to this assist! :D
