Hello, I got a Honor magic pro 7, my car is Mazda2 2017 model. When I connect the cable and have the google maps on the screen of the car, I play something in disney and the screen of the car turns black but on the phone plays normally. Google maps disappear from car's screen. Same happens to Netflix or bank apps

Any ideas why this is happening?

Thank you20250429_131839.jpg20250429_131940.jpg

Welcome to Android Central forums. Just a couple of quick questions.

Has this ever worked for you in this car with this or any other device?

Have you tried with another device?

I did a quick search to see what radio your vehicle has and it looks like you have an early Infotainment system. Being an owner of an Infotainment equipped vehicle, 2018, I can tell you this seems like normal behavior for these systems. My system will not display album art when the vehicle isn't in park. It blacks out the album art as soon as the car is shifted and returns it when in park, and this may be because they are trying to prevent distracted driving but I think it could also be that your system is too old to do it. Mirror the screen. When I got my car I wanted to display other stuff and that was when I found out that screen mirroring came to the Infotainment systems 2020, so there is also the chance that your 2017 system just cannot do it.

I found this about your specific vehicle.

The 2017 Mazda 2's infotainment system does not support playing videos from a USB drive when the car is in motion. However, it can play videos from a USB drive when the parking brake is engaged. If you're having trouble playing videos, you should ensure the parking brake is engaged and that the video file format is supported by the system.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

  1. Parking Brake: The infotainment system in many Mazda models, including the 2017 Mazda 2, disables video playback when the car is not parked.
  2. USB Drive: You'll need to have a USB drive with the video files you want to play.
  3. Supported Formats: The system might not support all video formats. Check your owner's manual for the supported formats.
  4. Engage Parking Brake: Before trying to play the video, make sure the parking brake is engaged.
  5. Select Video Source: Navigate to the "Entertainment" or "Media" section of the infotainment system and select the USB drive.
  6. Browse and Play: You should be able to browse the video files on the USB drive and select the one you want to play.

Hello,
with other devices works perfectly. With samsung A06 and with nothing phone 1.
Only with the honor I get this issue.
I hard reset the phone yesterday to see if there is a change but still the same. Maybe it is a security matter because when I open bank apps it does the same.

Thank you for answering.

I assume you mean that the cat screen goes blank when you open a banking app. I could maybe see and would understand if a mirror stopped when something like a bank app were opened to protect privacy but not a video. Well I wouldn't expect it to be due to security anyway.

I found these instructions online, let us know you've tried all of these or if one of them works for you.

To play videos from a Samsung A06 on an infotainment screen, you'll typically need to use either a screen mirroring or casting method, or by connecting the phone directly to the infotainment system. The best method depends on your infotainment system and the A06's capabilities. [1, 2]
Here's a general overview:
1. Screen Mirroring/Casting: [1, 1]

• SmartThings (if supported): If your infotainment system and the A06 both support SmartThings, you can connect the two devices via Wi-Fi and mirror the A06's screen onto the infotainment screen. The specific steps vary depending on your infotainment system, but generally involve enabling SmartThings on both devices and selecting "Mirror" or "Cast".
• Wireless Display/Screen Mirroring: Many infotainment systems and the A06 support standard screen mirroring protocols (like Miracast or Chromecast). Check your infotainment system's manual for instructions on how to enable this feature and connect to the A06.
• Google Cast: If your infotainment system and A06 support Chromecast, you can cast videos from apps that support Chromecast (like YouTube) directly to the screen. [1, 1]

2. Direct Connection (if supported): [1, 2]

• USB Cable: Some infotainment systems allow you to connect the A06 via a USB cable. In this case, the A06 may enter a "Media Mode" or "Transfer Mode," allowing you to browse and play videos from the phone's storage on the infotainment screen.
• HDMI Cable: If your infotainment system has an HDMI input and the A06 has an HDMI adapter, you can connect them directly and mirror the A06's screen. [1, 1, 2, 2]

3. Checking for Updates: [1, 1]

• Samsung Device and App Updates: It's always a good idea to check for software updates on both the A06 and your infotainment system. Updates often include bug fixes and enhancements, including improvements to screen mirroring and casting features. [1, 1]

Yeah I saw that after I posted but didn't have time to look up the correct information.

To play videos from an Honor Magic 7 Pro on a 2017 Mazda 2 infotainment system, you'll primarily need to use Android Auto. Connect your phone via a USB cable for the initial setup and then you can switch to wireless connection for future use. Make sure your Mazda 2 is compatible with Android Auto and that your Honor Magic 7 Pro is running Android 10 or higher (where Android Auto is pre-installed). Once connected, you can access your phone's media, including videos, through the Android Auto interface on your car's display. [1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3]
Here's a more detailed breakdown: [1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3]

  1. Check Compatibility: Ensure both your Honor Magic 7 Pro and your 2017 Mazda 2 are compatible with Android Auto. Android Auto requires a USB cable connection for initial setup and can then switch to wireless connection.
  2. Connect via USB: Connect your Honor Magic 7 Pro to your Mazda 2's infotainment system using a USB cable.
  3. Initial Setup: Follow the on-screen prompts to set up Android Auto.
  4. Wireless Connection (optional): Once set up, you can disconnect the USB cable and Android Auto will automatically switch to wireless mode when you enter your car.
  5. Access Media: Once connected, you'll be able to access your phone's media, including videos, through the Android Auto interface on your Mazda 2's display.
  6. Video Playback: Android Auto will handle playing videos, which should be supported by your phone's media player and compatible with the Android Auto interface.
Important Notes: [2, 2]
  • Android Auto: Ensure your phone is running Android 10 or higher, as Android Auto is pre-installed on these versions. [2, 2]
  • Mazda Infotainment System: Your 2017 Mazda 2 may have limitations on video playback. Some systems might only allow video playback when the vehicle is stationary or the parking brake is engaged. [4, 4]
  • Video Formats: Check if the video formats on your phone are supported by Android Auto and your Mazda's infotainment system. [4, 4]
  • Alternative Methods: If you're having trouble with Android Auto, you may be able to use a USB drive to store videos and play them directly through your Mazda's media player (though this may not be available on all models or infotainment systems), according to a YouTube video. [4, 4]

Thank you for answering :)
I don't want to play video on the infotainment system. Please look the pictures I uploaded to the post. I connect to the car my phone "Honor magic pro 7" I give to google maps the destination and everything is fine, but when I open a streaming app to play a video while navigating the screen of the infotainment goes black, the android auto showing Google Maps disappear to black, if I stop the video the screen turns on again.
This never happened with other devices, only with the honor.
Additionally, if I open a bank app or revolut or paypal, the same happens. I think there is something to do with security or something else, I don't get it, It is really strange.
