Android Auto Incompatible with my device

I have a Samsung S7 and when I go to the Google Play store and try to install Android Auto I get a message 'Your device isn't compatible with this version'. I am running 7.0 on my phone. I have tried other ways to install it (by trying via my desktop with my phone connected) but that does not work either. Any thoughts as to how to get this app on my phone?
