Android Auto Waze Navigation Volume Fluctuates

[Android Central Question]

When using Waze navigation and Spotify at the same time the volume of music fluctuates significantly up and down. When using Google Maps this does not happen. Only when using Waze.

I have searched other places and many other people have or are experiencing the same thing and I have tried all of the various App changes suggested. Nothing has worked so far.

Want to ask here to see what kind of ideas everyone has on how to keep this from happening.

I just got a new car with Android Auto on it and I have the same issue with Waze. I haven't tried Google Maps yet but I can tell you it happens not just on Spotify but any music app on the phone (Amazon Music, Google Music I have tried.)

Pretty annoying and makes me either listen to regular radio or not have the navigation part of waze turned on.

I'm also experiencing this problem. It only happens when I try Waze and Spotify. When I don't use Waze, Spotify works fine.

Looking at another forum it appears the new waze version is causing the issue. The fix is to roll back Waze until the latest comes out and try again.

Where do I download the old version of the app?

I submitted a support ticket for Waze.

You can just google Waze APK. I believe I downloaded the 4.43 version and it is working as expected.

I found out that turning off Waze Android auto notifications works as a temporary fix.

Thanks for the intel. Had the same problem and downgrading to Waze 4.43 worked for me. Using a Pixel 2 XL with Android 9.0 and the latest version of AA.

Happening here too. Pixel2XL and '18 Subaru Impreza with AA. Does removing the auto notifications remove the voice prompts though the speakers?

Correct, removing the notifications kills any voice prompts from the app. Bumping Waze back and killing the auto-update feature until 4.6 (or whatever version) comes out. You can try and upgrade then again but be prepared to roll back again if issue isn't resolved.
