Android Central Photo Contest: Concrete

Taken with Moto X Pure Edition 2015 phone using stock camera app in HDR mode with some editing with Snapseed. It was just after a snow storm after sunset hour. The street lamps are on and the moon is visible.

The photograph is of The Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge, which is designed by a Swiss bridge designer, Christian Menn. It is the only one of its kind ever built. In addition to being the widest cable-stayed bridge in the world, the bridge is the first "hybrid" cable-stayed bridge in the United States, using both steel and concrete in its frame.

Nothing says "concrete" like a construction site. Captured using my HTC One M8 (Stock Camera App) in HDR mode.

This is a concrete wall atop a levee in Chesterfield, Missouri. For a good length of it, they invited artists to paint colorful scenes reflecting the region here near St. Louis. Though not the official name, I call it the Graffiti Wall. I've captured a number of these "panels" using my Samsung Note3 and the Google Camera's Photosphere mode. I found for close subjects like this, a tripod with ball-head was useful in limiting camera shake and offset - allowing the camera software to have the best chance at stitching these accurately.

The wall appears curved in the picture because this was part of the "flattened" 360 degree image. In fact the wall and the trail are about as straight as a line... but I rather like the effect.

I work at Detriot Metro Airport. Concrete for days. Everything but the roof is concrete.

No, but I know those bridges go on for what seems like forever! These two are about 200 miles east, and connect Gulf Breeze to Pensacola Beach, Florida.

arlington.jpgThis picture was taken by a Kyocera wave. It is not the best camera I have had on a phone ,but, it meant a lot to get it.The picture is a new section of columbarium being installed in Arlington National Cemeterey. As a veteran, I took great pride in being part of the production of these units. The center parts with the small storage holes were produced in Flemington, NJ before being shipped to Virginia to be installed. They were poured, ground down, holes filled in and then stained to meet the specs for that job.The coloring in the picture is not the units actual color, but that caused by a perfect sunrise. I felt good upon completing our portion of the work knowing that the remains of our servicemen and women interred here have been given my best and that of the rest of the crew. Everyone understood what it was for and who would be there. Thank you to those that give all so we may live free!

I stand in the cold of winter on Bainbridge Island, in a land of an icy skate park, an isolated vacation of two wheels rounding corners of exploration in planned concrete playgrounds.

This photograph was taken by me, during one of my trips in Venice,Italy,
in October 2013,with my old Galaxy Nexus.

Venice has 150 canals and 490 bridges.
Almost all the houses emerge direclty to the canals, without sidewalks.

Houses and bridges have in their structures concrete.

With no motorized transport and no bicycles allowed in Venice,
canals serve as the main arteries of the city.

In this photograph is the Bridge of the Apostles (Il Ponte dei Santi Apostoli).

You can see this picture, also,on my Google+ page,

Photo was taken in Aschaffenburg, a little town near Frankfurt, during a trip in Germany. Shot on a Galaxy S6 and edited in VSCO Cam.

Shot with my HTC Droid Incredible. This is a pic from when I was in Bremerton of the submarine sails at the park next to the ferry terminal honoring our nations submariners. They blow water out the top at regular intervals and it's a challenge to catch, but I managed to catch it. Unedited. Concrete paver walkway to view them from different angles.

World's highest concrete steel composite arch bridge - Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge - at the Hoover Dam.

Shot on LG V10(auto), and edited in Snapseed. I love the manual mode with RAW images on the LG V10, but I was the passenger in a moving car and getting the tinted window down in time for this angle and composition was lucky, definitely would have missed it spending the typical 5-10 extra seconds that I take in manual mode. My phone also had auto-HDR on which I hate and always forget to have turned off for auto mode, but I'd rather more detail seen of the bridge and be forgiving of the bit of over processed halo along the edges that resulted from having shot in Auto-HDR mode.
