I was coming back home from work, when I got off the metro and saw the 'golden-hour' sun lighting this tree beautifully. My initial thought was to run home, grab my DSLR and come back to shoot it, but I knew that it was going to be too late then, as this light would be gone by the time I am back. With the "best camera is the one you have with you" mantra, I reached out for my Android smartphone, an
HTC Droid DNA, trying to save this moment. It immediately became clear that the not-so-wide angle camera on my phone was not enough to capture the entire tree. So, I took several tiled shots to be stitched later, adding up to a wide-angle picture. As a photography enthusiast, I also did post-processing after stitching, to cleanup the urban mess we humans create (e.g., power lines), and effectively digitally purified this tree to reveal it alone to let the viewers focus on its blooming beauty. Looking at this final product, am I glad that I did not make the wrong choice of going for the big camera at home!
Post-processing software: Microsoft ICE, Photomatix Pro, Photoshop CS5
PS: Second post, as I forgot to mention the name of the smartphone and the software used.
