Android Central Question

Hi, I'm using Chrome Android version 87.0.4280.66 on a Huawei P20 Pro. When pages load, the screen jumps around, especially when ads load. I used to be able to switch on scroll anchoring via the flags options but it's no longer there. Can someone please tell me how I now stop pages from jumping around?

Try uninstalling Chrome, reboot phone, and the install Chrome again.

Thanks will try but not sure if I can completely uninstall as its a preinstalled app on my phone.

Just so I know though, is the scroll anchoring feature still in the flags section or has it been moved elsewhere?

Hi, welcome to AC!

You can try
1.Clear data, then force stop chrome
2. Uninstall the update and try it without letting play store updating.

As for chrome flags try this

To access the Chrome flags menu, type chrome://flags in the address bar. You can also access this menu by typing chrome://chrome-urls and clicking the chrome://flags link listed. You can also link to a flag directly. This will load the Chrome flags menu and highlight the particular flag.

I had the jumping on my Blackberry phone so I don't know about yours. I do know that my suggestion did solve the issue for me.

Hi, I've tried this but still no scroll anchoring option shows. Maybe I'm not asking the correct question since the flags are for experimental features. Does anyone know what the best way to stop the screen jumping round when loading pages in chrome? This is particularly bad problem when pages have ads that carry on loading as you scroll down a page

Have you tried my suggestions?

Also try turning on Lite Mode in the Chrome settings.

Hey I've done the reinstall I've searched flags I've searched in page for the anchor flag but I can't find anything. The best I get is smooth scrolling and that doesn't seem to help at all.

Agreed that any continuosly loading add makes the page 10 times worse.

Samsung galaxy a11 on metro.

Also I would prefer to use my computer, but I live in the sticks with no direct internet so I live off a mobile hotspot for my pc and do most my downloads through my phone then transfer them to pc. As my hotspot is limited but phone data is not.

Welcome to Android Central! You quoted my suggestion for Lite Mode -- did you try that already?
