My verizon fascinate updated to Froyo yesterday and my battery life is CRAP now!! Before the update I could listen to hours of music or audiobooks and now I'm lucky to get 20 minutes out of the battery before it is almost completely dead. I keep killing apps but nothing seems to help. Anyone have ideas as to what is running the battery down since Froyo?

Froyo is a battery suck almost across the board. There are small tweaks you can do to increase battery life without rooting or using custom ROMS/kernels. You can set wifi to turn off when the screen turns off (Wireless & Networks>WiFi Settings>Advanced>Wifi Sleep Policy). You an turn off automatic brightness and set it all the way to zero. A darker background image also helps. You can turn off background updates for different apps (Not all of it from settings or Market doesn't work), Try *228 Option 2 to update Roaming Capabilites (helps recognize newer towers) to try and strengthen signal (also a big drain when in a weaker signal area). Other than that, you would have to hit the Rooting, ROMS, and Hacks section of this forum to see about undervolted kernels and custom ROMS.

While you are waiting the first thing I would do is:
Fully charge the battery using the stock cable and a wall outlet
Turn off the phone and fully charge it.
Turn It back on and fully charge it.

It sounds like the phone thinks it is either fully charged and not, or running on empty but really not.

Go with ComRom 1.3, OTB 1.5 ,and use the voltage control program. It will help. All the instructions, suggestions, etc on these boards will assist you in making it a very easy transition.

20 minutes is unacceptable, there are bigger issues than what should be addressed than simple usage adjustments.

after rooting and flashing comm rom, try disabling the gps and turn it on if needed. also turn of background data from settings>accounts & sync.

display is the main reason you are probably draining that fast. once rooted you can customize it the way you want it ... goodluck.

I too had poor battery life after froyo as much as 30% of what I had. Finally took the rooting plunge and removed all the verizon cap and now it's almost back to how it was. For some reason Pandora kills battery much faster than subsonic.

How do you all live with background data turned OFF?? For me, the main point of having a smartphone is to get push Gmail.

Unless there's a way to get push Gmail with BD still turned off? Just wondering...

Yesterday, my battery life started to plummet. Found out the 3G radio wasn't working and phone was apparently searching for the signal and doing everything on 1x. Phone usually has 50% left by 5:30 PM coming off charger at 6:30 AM. Was down to 25% by noon this time. Had to do a battery pull for about 1 minute. Then installed fresh battery and rebooted.
Back to normal now. I leave GPS on all the time and it doesn't run down the battery unless I have a program actively using it.
