Recently I started using a hearing aid which doubles as a bluetooth-enabled ear plug.

the hearing part works fine, but the connection to the phone frequently drops out, in the middle of a podcast, or music, or a phone call.

This is a fairly fancy new hearing aid, and an older, cheaper phone.

I wonder if upgrading to a new android phone would help?

(But then I essentially do not have this problem with my regular headset, which is only a $30 device, NOT expensive or fancy.)

thanks for suggestions!

W

PS: am contemplating a back market fold phone for appx $350 as my new Android ....

I have been using BT hearing aids (Oticon) since 2018. Their connectivity is great as long as you don't wander too far from your phone. I don't use them to stream anything except for brief bits. The sound is simply too tinny, compared to my earbuds. I use my aids for obvious reasons, but only wear them 60% of the time. The balance is spent using my earbuds.

thank you! that is very helpful. I just got the new Oticon miniRITE. Yes, it doesn't seem necessary to wear it (one ear only) when i'm home by myself working, and not having any issues with hearing. But yes, it makes sense to primarily wear the device out of the apartment. So yes, a very helpful thought. Yes!
