Android Market Update

Interesting. I have no interest in renting movies (maybe I'm something of a dinosaur, but I watch movies on this big non mobile device called a "television", and besides if I spend money on a movie I want to own it), but the ability to buy books looks promising.

I also kind of like the new look a little bit. But i would have to play with the new update to get a taste for it still.

I'm a fan of the new interface, so much more sophisticated, gonna miss the old one though. Can't wait for this update so I could start renting movies and buying books!

I could be interested in the movies, could be cool. Dont know yet. I am just more interested in the refreshing look. More things to tinker with.

Yeah I really hope someone gets the .APK up so I can install this on my Optimus V, looks sweet.

I would post the youtube video but I don't know if that would just get me flamed or not, lol. It looks beast though, can't wait to check it out.

EDIT: and yeah, renting movies on even the bigger screen phones (I noticed my OV is insanely small compared to a lot of Android Devices) just seems stupid, why would I want to hold my phone to my face to watch a movie for 1HR+? I know some phones come with HDMI ports, but still I don't see the point, there is redbox, netflix, hulu, and lots of other rental services you can use without even leaving your home that already come built into the Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3, and I'm pretty sure the 360, but I don't own one.

Guess someone is going to make use of it. Price seems a little to high for the movie rentals though IMO.

Your awesome... seriously... Im gonna verify this on my optimus v

Haven't messed with it yet but itinstalled and opened perfectly on my optimus V running cm7!! Thanks man!

So one thing I've noticed...you can navigate through the Market without the back or search buttons. Preparing for ICS anyone?

I hope this is the UI Google is going with for their apps in ICS. Reminds me a little of the Metro UI.

I downloaded it off the front page of AC (thanks guys!), it looks really good and feels really smooth going through it. I do notice though, that the pictures do take a while to load up. Dont know if that is because it is a leaked version of the new update or what. But other then that, its pretty sweet.

The lag of the pictures loading has seemed to clear up for me after opening it a second or third time, it much just be a cache I would assume, or because so many of us are loading the app store ATM.

I'm liking the new market so far. The new UI will take a little wile to get used to, and I too noticed that you can navigate without using your phone's capacitive buttons. Seems ICS really won't require them after all.

Just received the update on my non-rooted Droid X. This is how the Market needed to look from the beginning. It has a much cleaner UI, it looks like they actually put effort into it. Not that Google needs to copy ITunes but we needed a much less ghetto looking marketplace.
On a somewhat different note. I love Android for its openness and our ability to personalize it to our hearts content but in my opinion we need some sort of verification system in place before the apps hit the market. These virus filled apps hitting the market is a big black eye to our platform.

My Market app looks the same. Do I need to remove it and re-download it for this new version?
