Android Notification colume gets muted randomly

[Android Central Question]

Hi all. So my notification sounds get muted randomly on my phone (Galaxy S9, Android Pie) and I can't for the life of me figure out what is causing it. I tested various things (eg go from mute - vibrate - sound, on-off DND) and it's neither of those. But suddenly during the day my phone starts only vibrating (no sound) at notifications, and when I open Settings - Sounds - Volume, the Notifocations slider is all the way down. No other volumes are affected.

turns out i had a routine that caused this. All solved.

Routine (the Galaxy app) was turned on to mute sounds around a certain location.
