enjoy!!

No luck - time time to step away from the phone - thanks for your efforts.

I've had similar problems in the past. My recollection is that the solution was to open Device Manager on the PC (with the phone connected or not? I don't recall - maybe try it both ways) and delete any entries relating to Android devices, your phone name, etc.

Then, reconnect the phone at which point it should reinstall the device driver. Try adb again.

Thanks for the idea - I tried side loading the last 7.1.1 factory image and adb read it OK - appears to be an issue with the "O" developer image.

ETA - tried your idea - will not read "O" update but will read the latest factory image fine - ????? - I'm using the latest Windows Insider 10 build, not sure if that matters or not.

Is there a timeline when the official O will be released? I don't know how to flash or root but I'm excited with the O when I read the features.

Last year, there were around 5 beta builds, each around a month or so long and final release was in August. Just a thought

I am a fast ring windows insider too so your problem in flashing android o is not related to windows preview builds..

Right you are - tried to do it on an RTM Install - same results - can read 7.1.1 image but not the developer image - I have d/l several O images just to be sure I got good ones - who knows??

it's weird. did you download the image from google?

Yes, from the link in the OP.
Later today I am going to re-try the method in the link you posted above

https://developers.google.com/android/images#instructions

There is something to this method that I am not grasping a hold of.

While all this is frustrating, it's what makes messing with "beta/developer" builds fun - as well as learning experiences.

Your help is appreciated.

"I don't care, I'm still gonna put it on my phone and then complain about how awful O is and how it screwed up my phone" -Most people downloading the dev preview

I hope the Play store doesn't allow reviews on these devices. I know Apple had that problem, before they did the public beta program of people getting their devices on a developer account and then leaving bad reviews for apps that didn't work right.

Installed Android O on my Pixel XL and love it so far. So smooth ....No app crashes so far. Love the new battery percentage next to the icon

personally I don't like the battery percentage showing in status bar..^^

I once accidentally flashed the android o for pixel xl rom into my pixel (not xl). I realized that after using it for several hours. it functioned properly except the fonts and icons looked bigger. anyway I flashed the correct rom afterward.
