Android Oreo rollout resumes for Galaxy S8/S8+

I got the same 130+mb update last night. Either it's a precursor to the Oreo update or it's something to keep Samsung owners quiet and content while waiting (and waiting and waiting) for Oreo. Like I said in another thread, I knew when I bought a Samsung, I would get few to no updates.
At least it's not a Motorola. Happy I left that nightmare.

This is it for me and Samsung. This Oreo delay is absurd for a flagship phone. I'll be first in line for a pixel 3.

broken record time everyone!

I'll consider a 3 as my next phone but there are some things that knocked 2 out of the running, namely the non-XL version wasn't 4k and they did not have expandable storage. Also I would not be so interested in the oreo update if it wasn't for the LDAC support, the only real bluetooth audio improvement in a decade. I doubt there will be anything in future androids that will make me want them so much.

Great technical reasons there. All I want is smaller bezels and the latest version of Android, delivered as soon as its available.

I kinda feel the same way between the lack of updates and the narrowness I'm getting pretty tired of samsung.

I might get a v30 second hand or just go back to iphone.

I am eyeing Huawei - they've been good about updating, the Mate 9 was very wide too. Also hoping the Essential (would it be "Essential 2?") can pull itself together.

The part that bothers me is knowing there are now publicly disclosed vulnerabilites and they need to plug the hole asap. Also, I'm not convinced Google - or Apple - have it all together on development and testing system software. iOS 11 was not. And iOS desktop... icons, arrangement, seems... pathetic. So I know I'd not be happy going back (and X is a tiny S8-sized $1K device).

Woke up this morning and had an update waiting for me on my AT&T S8, thought it was the Oreo update but turned out to only be the February security patch.

Mine just updated to the February 2018 patch yesterday afternoon. I'm in the US on AT&T network.

Huh.. Still on the October patch on unlocked S8
That’s shocking :/ Samsung are not doing well at all with their updates. They clearly either need to hire way more staff or cut back on phone models. My phone unlocked too, btu in the uk, through I’m on January update. Not Oreo through.

Unlocked S8+ in the US and still on the December patch. Samsung is doing a terrible job with the security patches. When I first got my phone they were managing to push the security patches out less than a month after Google released them. Ever since they started working on Oreo the patches have been spotty and unreliable. Not cool at all on a device that costs as much as they do.

I was part of the beta on an unlocked S8 and it was fairly drama free, I really don't get what the hell they're doing now except pissing users off.

The sad state of affairs is that if you want an Android device AND timely security patches there aren't a lot of options.

Really? I got the December patch a few weeks ago. I think it's crazy that unlocked S8/S8+ owners have to wait so long for an update. This is the main reason why I got an unlocked version.

Yes, even the locked telstra devices are on Oreo now... My unlocked SM-G950F isn't...

My CRAP update is downloading now. I'm on UK Vodafone.

EDIT: My Wife's phone, same network, however is showing as up to date...
