Android Oreo rollout resumes for Galaxy S8/S8+

Just got my update for att. So far I see my phone is a bit snappier. Badges are working so far for me and the notification going away after I swipe isn't a huge deal for me as of yet. Won't do a factory reset because my phone is just two weeks old ( had to do a warranty exchange), but I will do a cache wipe. I'll wait til tomorrow to see what happens with the battery. Kind of hard for me to gauge my battery when I just put the phone on a charger when I think I need it.

I like the new way you can switch between your edge panels and the recent app list view. I'm learning new things as I play with my phone. Lol

Anybody know how I get rid of what I circled ? It keeps popping up every time I use Textra. I've set all the permissions, but it goes away until I use the app again.

Nevermind I figured it out. You can turn the app permissions manager off.

That must be new. I use Textra and have never seen that before. Although I do remember some nagging notification when I was on the Oreo Beta. Something about "apps running in the background" or something like that.

Yeah it didn't start showing up until after I updated to Oreo.

This is what I had to turn off to make it go away in case someone else has the issue. You can just search for it in the settings

S8+ on Verizon. Just downloaded Oreo this morning. I have a question...I use the default Samsung email app and before the update, it would show the total number of unread emails on the app icon. That is no longer. Now it just shows the numbers of unread emails since I last opened the app. How can I change this. Also, I use Textra. I used to see the name of the person who is texting on the screen (I restrict content being shown), now that is no longer the case. Please help.

You badge counter will no work once you dismiss notification from drop down panel. It's been posted all about it in another post. Can't help you with textra as I don't use it.

I just got the update a few hours ago and i was looking up online whats new and is it just me or are some things missing? Like my menu where power saving and wifi toggles are didnt change but it looks different online. It also said some icons changed, none of mine did. Im in the US with an S8+

My AT&T S8+ updated to Oreo yesterday - now the 'app badge' for email is busted (either shows no unread or is locked to the no. 7), and my Gear S3 Classic is not getting all the emails its supposed to in notifications - that's been hit or miss a LOT lately;-( Why must updates always screw up some basic functions!;-/
