I read that Google pay isn't supposed to work with beta builds.

I think that might be that it may not work with beta builds....mine has always worked

They don't guarantee it to work with beta, but most of us have had it working at some point on beta. Last time I had trouble was on 8.1 beta but they resolved it.

It is just weird how all our settings look different.

Yeah....I think for a brief moment mine had the error on 8.1

I still don't like the home button pill and gesture navigation. I don't think it works well and wish they'd move to a complete gesture based system.

Your not alone ..
Example: what if you pull your notifications shade down and you have your recent apps or app drawer pop up also, that's how this Google gestures feel not fluid ...if I wanted recent apps I'll do a gesture for that or for app drawer.

I don't disagree, but I am glad they left the option to go back and forth in the settings. But it kinda feels half way gesture and most things done halfway aren't the best. I do actually like the new "iOS" style recents though, the horizontal scrolling is nice. But I'm having alot of trouble with the clock move, I get the other changes but why the clock? That's where notification icons are and now I keep looking up there thinking I missed something but it's just the time. Does anyone know why they moved it over? For the notch future?

It definitely isn't perfect but for the most part I am faster on it due to gestures versus non. Same w/ iPhone. I could use without but after using the X it is a lot faster with gestures.

Since we both have the iPhone X I'm happy apple finally going just require a swipe to delete recent apps in ios12

why would your app drawer or recent apps open when pulling your notification shade down? I've been on beta for months now and it's never happened.

also, my settings on playstore are showing my device as "certified" now after clearing data and cache and restarting phone. wasn't having any issues that im aware of, but I didn't like it not showing it as certified

Google has always been deliberate... Avoiding drastic shifts. They have always preferred the slow burn approach to new features. Google Now begets On Tap begets Google Assistant. GA come to us in little bits and pieces. The current approach is a transition designed to reduce the shock. I know quite a few people that took to the iPhone X's system and like it... But people don't like change and there's a large swath that look upon it like a vampire cowering from the Sun.

So I'm just going to go with the flow. I've been using the new pill exclusively since the second preview build and it's now second nature... I'm sure there's a second phase looming on the horizon, it's a matter of when, not if.

I was giving a example on the notification shade that's how it feels swiping up right now with Google gestures. Lol

I actually like the 2 stage swipe up....it makes perfect sense to me.

There is a level of design consistency there.. the notification shade users the same 'drag twice/long drag' method. They just have to find the right balance on the full drag... I'd more prefer just a flick to get to the switcher, but it's not a big issue.

Not to mention that Google has been in the vanguard of the Now-You-See-It-Now-You-Don't-Ha-Ha-You-Fell-For-It-Again! UI Development movement. Something that they're sure to get even better at now that they've got all that HTC talent working for them.

My guess -- assistant. They have the hold button part to launch assistant and haven't figured out a way to do that yet.
