Android Pay Gift Card Question

Hey all, just a quick question. When you add a gift card to Android Pay, it doesn't affect the physical card, correct? I'd still e and to use the physical card if needed?

I bet it doesn't, just need confirmation before I add all the cards from our recent baby shower
