Android pay is becoming Google pay

The intrusive part is when I walk into a store and Google tells me it can be used I don't need notifications like that

The app allows you to disable different types of notifications, including the types you mention.

Android pay is still there on mine. Just says android pay is now Google pay when I open it. It hasn't disappeared.

That is only if you allow it location access. If you remove that access then that goes away. Simple setting change.

I don't count options as "intrusive" -- especially when I can control it.

Open Android Pay & then Google Pay. I did something like that and Android Pay when away.

I just used mine, and it says Google Pay was used, but the Android Pay icon is still in my App Drawer. (as well as the Google Pay icon)

It will. I opened both a few times and Android Pay disappeared.

Looked at my shortcut today and it had morphed from Android Pay to Google Pay. Looks good to me.

Mostly a branding change. Still only works at special terminals. Would be great if the update included the ability to use it at any credit card terminal.

That would be true if we were going from one app to another but in this case two apps were merged.

Which could happen if an app update included a change to the hardware. Samsung Pay works at terminals without NFC because of special hardware built into the device.

Google Wallet => Android Pay and Google Wallet Split => Google Pay = Google Wallet originally.

Dizzy yet??? LOL

In any event, is it reasonable to expect some kind of notification that the update is either available or installed?
I confirm the Update it's been installed too in my Sam_Gs7 2-Days ago
too and Hallux is right it depends how do you Update your GPlay apps

But may I ask this.. I do have 2-Icons now one ID's itself as Google Pay
the New-1 as Android Pay, should I delete google Pay icon
now or What to do in this case.? keep both

Blame the stores for not updating their terminals not Google Pay. It's only in the US that's an issue. Those 'special terminals' are standard in the rest of the world
