Android Pay, NFC and battery issues

I installed Android Pay yesterday morning on my Moto X Pure and noticed that afternoon my phone getting hot and the battery rapidly discharging. The battery drained last night for the first time in a long time.

This morning I'm seeing the same thing. Warm phone and excessive battery usage.

I turned off NFC in the settings and the phone cooled off. Charging it now.

Anyone know of any issues with Android Pay and NFC on their phones? First time I've installed it and was wondering if it's constantly running in the background waiting to spend some money.

Thanks,

Scott

I did not observe the behavior you describe on my Moto X Pure Edition.

I leave NFC on all the time.

Same here, NFC on always and no effect on heat or battery at all. I've never used Android pay tho either. It sounds like an app problem... Maybe uninstall and reinstall if nothing else works?

Android pay was so badly broken on the Nexus 6's with nougat 7.1.1 that Google is forcing an OTA downgrade to 7.0, so maybe it's glitchy on MM as well. It sounds kinda problematic 😮

It appears to have been not related to Android pay and NFC. It did this for one day and the next day it went away. After the battery seems better than ever! Go figure!

ive noticed my phone has been running hot and battery is draining alot faster. started about two weeks ago when the december update came through.
