Hi, I just installed Android pay and am on 5.1 for my Moto X. I get this message whenever I try to add my credit card:

"Android Pay cannot be used

Google is unable to verify that your device or software running on it is Android compatible"

I have not rooted my phone or anything.

Does this app just not work on this phone or anybody know of a work around?

Thanks

Are you in a supported country? And for that matter, did you install the app through the Play Store? The message doesn't sound like what you see when you add an unsupported card, so I don't think that's the problem.

Can you add loyalty cards? (You can make up a number for any of them, just to test).

I am in the US. I got it from Google play. Loyalty cards add fine. I don't even get to add credit card details, just clicking the button to add throws this error.

Mmm... are you certain your device isn't rooted or modified? After a few searches this does seem to be the error rooted devices see when trying to add cards.

OK, the product forums from Google suggest to try in Safe Mode. But also for that thread it seemed that it was a problem on Google's side. It seemed to have resolved itself for users after a couple days...

Right I found same thing but I have not rooted it. Bought directly from Motorola on cyber Monday 2014 sale.

I'd wait a couple days and see if it's fixed, but definitely make the report to Google.
