Android Pay

I am in the UK and just can't get Android Pay to work. Tried everything!

Samsung Pay works fine. My Amex card from their app works fine to pay.

Have checked the functionality of the NFC by an app and reads all card details perfectly. So don't think it's NFC issue.

The issue is I have Natwest Cards and they do not support Samsung Pay but support Android Pay.

Tried cards that work on Samsung Pay on Android Pay but when I place the phone on the terminal.... There is a beep... Says swipe again.... Tried across the complete length of the phone... But nothing.

Any ideas?

On the off chance, check to see if Android Pay is set as the default card to use with NFC payment. It could be that Samsung Pay is still set as the default, and that could cause confusion when the Android Pay app is active/open on your phone.

Sounds like this is not a concern since Samsung Pay is working, but good to picture where the Note 8 NFC detection area resides as it may help in the event some point of sale terminals have their NFC reader in different spots.

On a side note, I used Android Pay extensively in London area and all around Scotland last fall. That was with a Pixel and a US based credit card. Note 8 was not out yet, so not able to try Samsung Pay.

Thanks....so now I am really confused. When I went to settings>nfc>tap and go I have the first option under payments where there is no android pay to select? In the other section there is only Android Pay and Samsung Pay. Is this how it should be? Shouldnt android Pay be in the option under Payments?

Isn't GPay just the new name for Android Pay?
Try making that default and see what happens.

Hey Guys thanks.... Yes... Stupid of me that I missed such an obvious default setting. Changed the settings and made a purchase and worked fine. Thanks for the info on Google Pay Mary.... Wasn't aware...

Just out of interest I used Android pay for the 1st time at Sainsbury's today after reading the OP. It was simple and worked fine.

As I use other bonus cards and discount cards there I couldn't say that I would use Android pay all the time but it's definitely an option in other stores.
