Android Pie if not on original handset carrier?

I have a VZW S8+ that I just paid off and want to switch to US Mobile to save money. Will my S8+ still get Pie if I'm no longer with VZW or do I need to stay with VZW till they push out the update?

Most carriers don't lock the updates to having the SIM from their company in (only one I know of in recent memory is ATT). But since it's a carrier-branded phone, you won't get the update unless it's released by Verizon. You can also go with the Smart Switch route if you don't want to do it OTA
