I actually JUST figured this out, I think. The WearOS app on your phone needs permission to access your contacts.

Weird that I can actually connect to my Chromecast now. It was down for the last few days. Also my Google Home shows up in my Home app as well.

Very weird indeed.

I had trouble connecting apps to Google Home app when I was on beta. Had to use an oreo phone to do it. But everything has been smooth with chromecast, google home and Google wifi since the official version dropped for me.
