Android security patch level Oct-1-2019 for A50

[Android Central Question]

Samsung Canad offered a One UI upgrade for Pie. When I upgraded my a50 it only upgraded the Security patch level to Oct-1-2019. When I asked Samsung they seem to suggest that the upgrade has not happened yet.

This is a new Samsung phone and I would like to know if anyone else loaded this mislabeled upgrade to their a50.

Some Samsung devices are only getting quarterly updates. This is based on the age and budget level of the device. For example - my Tab S3 is only getting quarterly updates and is probably now up to the latest version of Android it will get.

That said - the A50 looks to be on the monthly update list but with the caveat that carrier versions may be quarterly. https://security.samsungmobile.com/workScope.smsb The OS update may very well have been at the October patch level even if it was just released.

I am asking if anyone received the Android Security patch for the A50 because I don't think it exists. My phone has it installed and Samsung Canada is not able to validate the patch only saying they think it should be correct. The patch identified itself as One UI update and not a security patch. My current ISP vmedia inc has DNS problems as of a week ago from Dec-11-2019.

I already know that my phone is on a quarterly update and this update did not occur on the quarterly, which is December

You can check sammobile website and put your model number and country code see what's the latest firmware.

Using Samsungs preinstalled software called "samsung members" I sent a feedback request question asking for the features for Android securityl level patch Oct-1-2019 feature be identified. they were not able to identify the features. this is Samsung Canada.

No they are not part of Samsung , only give news and gave their offical firmwares to download.

And for the response you got ,they are simply clueless , you probably know more then them .

The Android Security patch showed as a One UI update on my new Samsung phone but no longer shows on Samsung members forum.
