Hi,
I have Apple's ipod touch but am fed up with the whole iTunes bloatware gatekeeper walled garden software. I am looking elsewhere now.
I think with Android you can just drag and drop music, pictures and video just through Windows right?
What better media player is there now with a 4.5" OLED screen, lots of apps, adequate speed, and HDMI out? None. The closest is a Cowon with OLED but I had that and the screen is too small for video and low res (3.3" at 480 x 272) has fewer apps and no Wifi. Why no tablet? Too big, no OLED.
An unlocked Infuse cheap from ebay w/ 32 gb card and an enormous 4.5" OLED screen would fit the description and make a great PMP for about the same price. "outdated" phones like these go pretty cheap, even unused ones. Since I would only be using the wifi while browsing the net and not the phone I would imagine a bonus would be great "standby" battery life.
So the question is if I don't even use the phone part (I already have a phone) and use the phone as an aNdroid Touch, how would I get apps to it? Could I use the WiFi to connect to Android marketplace? USB transfer from computer? Can this phone be hacked to not need a SIM card to use these media features?
Can I get rid of all of the crapware they preload on these phones? If so how?
