Android TV - How to 'unhide' the Menu bar

Hi, I've recently bought 2 Minix Neo X7's. I love them, they are great.

However I can't work out how to 'unhide' the Menu bar. When I'm in the Android App TVCatchup, the screen picture does not use up the whole of the screen, because the menu bar at the bottom takes up an inch of hte screen, which is then reflected on the left and right of the TV screen. When I click on the double DOWN arrow it hides the menu thus pushing the screen into full widescreen. Then I am unable to get the menu back without exiting the app, then going setting->screen->etc....

I don't think you can bring the menu back, but selecting 'Auto hide menu bar' within display does the trick, therefore no need to force it.
