Early planning for a Bay Area Android developer unconference immediately prior to Google IO (probably May 8 or 9) is underway. An unconference is a participant-driven meeting, and registration is usually free or very inexpensive. With IO drawing so many devs, it seems like a solid idea to get the community physically together to discuss the platform, its implementation, and future. Last year, the IO sessions were bursting at the seams too. So, more opportunities for developers to interact about Android appears in order.
At this point, I (Alan Glennon //jagusa// twitter
glennon) am trying to gauge interest so an appropriate venue can be selected. If there's only a few people expressing interest, it might be best to do a simple meetup (or piggyback on an existing meetup group). With a whole pile, a full fledged multi-room miniconference could be appropriate.
Since I only know a very small fraction of the Android community, and there may be groups already planning something similar (or people who would like to help), please do connect us. Otherwise, replying and/or spreading the word if an Android Developer unconference is of interest to you would be quite helpful.
Cheers!
