Android unrooted after installing CyanogenMod?

I've rooted my phone, installed TWRP, flashed and installed CyanogenMod 12 on my LG G2.
The root checker now says that the device is not rooted. Could that be the case?

Sure, if the CyanogenMod ROM you installed isn't rooted. It's the ROM that gets rooted, not the phone itself.
