Android Update broke my phone Jul 11 2018

[Android Central Question]

Yesterday while in the middle of using my LG G4 it shut off to perform an update without any warning whatsoever and displayed a message saying "Optimizing apps x out of 18".

Since then it has not turned on. It will only display "LG powered by Android" opening screen for a few minutes before shutting off repeating this again and again until I remove the battery.

Has this happened to anyone else recently? Are the people at Android aware their updates are breaking peoples phones?

Are you sure it was an update? It may simply be the well-known bootloop problem that affects the G4...mine included. If there was an update, it may be that the heat sometimes caused by updating triggered the bootlooping.
