I spotted a good post on Groklaw today about the Android vs Oracle case. Definitely worth a read for anybody interested Android courtroom battles.
Groklaw - Oracle v. Google - Look What The Cat Dragged In (to Oracle)
A little context:
- Oracle have been dragging their heels in producing documents/posts to the courts from the old sun.com website.
- A Groklaw reader decided to look for himself on the Wayback Machine to see if there is anything good in there (since Google have expressed a lot of interest in the old posts)
- The reader found some old posts indicating that Sun would never have sued Google [or any other company] for patent infringement as long as they follow the license and that they only intend to use their patents to defend themselves from other aggressors
- These posts severely weaken Oracle's case [if sun gave Google the impression, explicitly or otherwise, that Android was okay, they can't suddenly turn around and later sue them once Android becomes big, even under new ownership]
