My buddy has the HTC Aria and for the life of the both of us, we cannot get angry birds on it. It does not show up in the market or through app brain and of course, with AT&TS sideload blockage, what can we do?

He cannot root the phone so that is not an option. Any ideas?

I wish I could star this post because I know a lot of people with this problem right now. Please android gods please help us.

found out why. Angry birds does not yet support QVGA displays. And since the aria is a QVGA display......

The Aria has an HVGA display. I'm not sure why it doesn't show up in the market, but you can go to getjar on your computer and download the .apk (just say your phone is an HTC Legend, it has the same processor and screen) and then use the Sideload Wonder Machine.

BTW I have it on my Aria and it works fine.

thanks I will have my buddy do this then

I asked this on another forum. Getjar's site was down from all the bandwidth on Friday, so I couldn't get it from there. I was told to get it through appbrain, which worked fine. Getjar's site should be up and running now though.

Rooted and running Liberated Aria rom. Downloaded the game from GetJar. Installed from the SD card without a hitch. For phone select, choose HTC Legend. (As already mentioned by ls377)

(Why isn't rooting an option?)

Hello,
Do you have a at&t aria or the overseas version. I have the overseas version and I was able to get angry birds no problem. I wanted to see which one you have because has some limitations with MMS and other features..

AT&T version. What kind of limitations?

I downloaded the ad-supported .apk file and used the Android Central Sideload Wonder Machine. Works great on my Aria.

I've got a non-rooted aria and got my copy of Angry Birds from here:

[Updated: Now In The Android Market] It?s Live! Download The Full Version Of Angry Birds Right Now [v1.3.5 + Mirrors] | Android News, Reviews, Applications, Games, Phones, Devices, Tips, Mods, Videos, Podcasts - Android Police

I heard that Getjar was having some issues so I got it elsewhere. I ended up downloading it through megaupload and used the sideload wonder machine to install it.

Worked like a charm. ;)

Chris

I went ahead and rooted my Aria. I was having trouble getting the Sideload Wonder Machine to work on my Mac.

I downloaded Angry Birds on my Aria through Appbrain. You just need to use their Fast Web Installer. Very easy. Worked like a charm.

No rooting.

No sideloading.

Angry Birds was listed in the market place for my wifes phone. This may be because of installing cyanogen mod onto her phone.

i never looked for the game 3 days ago after i installed the 6.1 rc1 version of cyanogen
